Palladin Consumer Retail Partners, whose portfolio of brands includes the KT Tape that athletes everywhere stretch across their skin for muscle support and pain relief, has an opening for a pre-MBA associate in its Boston office.
In this position you’ll have a hand in all facets of deal-making, from sourcing to execution to portfolio management. You’ll get to work as part of a small team of deal-makers. You should be someone who thrives in a “fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment,” according to the firm.
The associate position is located in the firm’s Boston headquarters. To qualify you’ll need at least two to four years of experience working as an analyst in private equity, corporate finance or related field. Experience in retail and consumer products would be a plus, and you should bring “outstanding interpersonal and communications skills,” both oral and written.
The Firm: Palladin Consumer Retail Partners invests in mid-sized, North American and European companies that generate revenues of $50 million to $500 million. The eight-person firm is led by CEO Mark Schwartz, who founded the firm in 1998. In one of the firm’s signature transactions, Schwartz served as executive chairman of Arnotts Ltd, the largest department store in Ireland, from 2010 to 2013. Schwartz and his team at Palladin led the company’s restructuring and return to profitability.
The Portfolio: The firm has eight active portfolio companies. While all operate in retail and consumer products, they span a broad array of products and services. Along with KT Tape, which the firm acquired in 2014, they include women’s wear brand NIC+Zoe, beverage-ware maker Leapfrog and regional car wash operator Splash Car Wash.
The Culture: To prosper at Palladin Consumer Retail Partners you’ll have to be a hard-worker. But it’s also a “wonderful place” to work, according to Office Manager and Executive Assistant Patricia Donnelly, who describes the eight-person team as close-knit and highly supportive of one another.
The Perks: The office is located on the 14th floor of the landmark Prudential Tower in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston. Inside the office you can enjoy a view that encompasses both the Charles River and Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. Nearby you’ll find plenty of hip restaurants and stores to visit. The firm has a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office at least three days a week.
