Buy-and-build investor ZBS Partners—led by two former Blackstone Group analysts who went on to co-found several businesses together—seeks $350 million for a debut fund.

Managing Partners Nicholas “Jake” Sloane and Linfu “Frank” Zhang filed regulatory paperwork in June for the New York City-based firm’s ZBS Partners I LP fund and a parallel fund.

Publicly traded PE Firms added 3,000+ employees last year

Publicly traded private equity firms built out their payrolls rapidly last year, with growth rates ranging from 8 percent to 29 percent, an analysis by Private Equity Career News shows.

An examination of nine firms shows a total workforce increase of 19 percent in 2022, with more than 3,000 new employees added in total, according to employee counts provided via 10-K filings. The firms did not typically break out growth from organic hiring versus growth via acquisitions.

Missouri State Employees’ Retirement System is looking for a head of private markets to help manage a healthy portion of its $8.4 billion portfolio.

Former U.S. Navy SEAL, an Ex-Cerberus MD, launches firm

Former U.S. Navy SEAL Louis Bremer, most recently managing director at Cerberus Capital Management, is launching a new private equity firm called Windage Partners.

Bremer serves as chief executive officer of the Dallas-based middle-market firm, which invests in aerospace, defense, government services and industrial markets, according to its LinkedIn profile. In 2020, then President Donald Trump announced plans to appoint Bremer as assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity combat. However, he did not end up taking the role.

Maryland to hire PE senior portfolio manager at salary up to $218K: Updated

The Maryland State Retirement and Pension System has opened a search for a senior portfolio manager to help manage its $13.7 billion private equity portfolio. The position pays an annual salary of $145,153 to $217,730.
