Branford Castle to hire pair of VPs; loses senior MD

Branford Castle Partners, which has bolstered its junior ranks since closing its second buyout fund a year ago but which also recently lost a senior managing director, intends to hire two VP-level professionals in the coming months.

One of the new professionals would be devoted to deal execution, said Laurence Lederer, whose promotion to managing partner of Branford Castle was announced earlier this month. The other professional would specialize in business development. The firm's team page lists 13 employees altogether.

Former TH Lee Partners managing director unveils new firm

Douglas Haber, a former managing director at Thomas H. Lee Partners, has resurfaced with his new firm Mountain Lake Capital. Private Equity Career News reported exclusively on Haber’s departure from the Boston buyout giant last August.

Mountain Lake Capital’s Web site is sparse, containing little more than a “contact us” link and an investor login page. Haber, who is managing partner, according to his LinkedIn profile, did not respond to requests for comment before press time.

Haber joined Thomas H. Lee Partners in 2006, then left in 2008 to attend Harvard Business School before returning to the firm in 2010.

Trive Capital launches real estate team with at least four hires

Trive Capital, the Dallas-based generalist that closed a $1 billion buyout fund in the fall of 2017, has brought aboard at least four investment professionals for a new real estate team, Private Equity Career News has learned.

Leading the charge is Partner Troy Daniel, who most recently served as a managing director at Thackeray Partners, a Dallas-based investor in industrial properties and rental housing across the United States.

Thoma Bravo adds cybersecurity architect to payroll

Tony Akers has joined Chicago software investor Thoma Bravo as a cybersecurity architect, a development other private equity shops are sure to take note of as more cyber-mayhem grabs headlines.

Akers joined last month to "manage internal cybersecurity initiatives," according to his team page bio. Previously he worked on cybersecurity and cloud applications as a security architect at Ardagh Group, a producer of glass and metal products.

Indiana PRS to hire three for private markets portfolio

Indiana Public Retirement System, which last year approved a 1 percentage point increase to its private markets target allocation, has openings for three professionals to work on the nearly $6 billion portfolio, according to the career page on its Web site.

The investment officer, senior investment analyst and investment analyst II would be joining an investment team managing a total portfolio valued at $45.5 billion as of June 30, according to the investment section of the Indiana PRS annual report.

Alane Millar, leaving GTCR, takes HR director role at Madison Dearborn

Alane Millar has left one Chicago PE giant for another, taking the job of director of human resources at Madison Dearborn following a two-year stint in a similar role at GTCR.

Millar joins a 30-year-old firm with an expanding payroll that's now up to 94 employees, based on our review of its team page. A snapshot of the team page from February 2019 showed 76 employees, including just one person with HR in her title.

Today, along with Millar, the HR department includes an HR generalist, HR and office manager and a managing director and chief HR officer, Laura Cappiello. The firm also employs a managing director and head of portfolio talent, Christopher Trendler, who joined last fall.
