MPowered Capital unveils mission to back women-founded firms

MPowered Capital of Minneapolis unveiled itself this month, along with its mission of backing money managers and companies founded by women and minorities.

Its executive team includes Marcia Page, co-founder and executive chair of money manager Värde Partners; Managing Partner Chrissie Chen Pariso, previously senior portfolio manager-private equity and head of the women and minority manager program at Exelon; and Director Yibai Haney, previously an investment professional at Virgo Investment Group.

Alpine Investors to double size of NYC office

San Francisco-based healthcare, software and services investor Alpine Investors has opened a New York City office as it continues adding staff in the wake of closing its eighth flagship fund at $2.25 billion this month.

The firm plans to expand its two-month-old Flatiron District office from about eight to 20 people over the next couple of years through both relocations and new hiring, according to marketing executive Audrey Harris.

Riverside Partners hires senior technology professional

Boston-based technology and healthcare investor Riverside Partners continues its recent ramp-up, bringing aboard Chintan Meher as a principal on its technology investment team. Meher previously served as a principal at turnaround specialist Sun capital Partners. In August the firm announced that Michael Bernard had joined its healthcare investment team as a principal.

Arsenal intends to expand healthcare team at every level

Arsenal Capital Partners, in the midst of deploying a $2.4 billion fifth fund secured in 2019, has openings for healthcare specialists at the junior, mid-level and senior level.

The 21-year-old New York City-based firm is looking to "add a seasoned leader to its healthcare team"—someone with at least six years of experience leading a team in growth equity or private equity, whose title will be determined depending on experience and qualifications, according to a recruitment ad placed earlier this month on the job board of the Women's Association of Venture & Equity.

Missouri State Employees’ is hiring a head of private equity

The Missouri State Employees' Retirement System, steward to a $10 billion portfolio, seeks a head of private equity to replace a retiring team member.

The new executive will have a big opportunity to make a mark on the alternative investment program. With about $500 million invested in private equity, Jefferson City-based MOSERS sits far below its target allocation of 15 percent, or $1.5 billion.

Searchlight adds operational might with hiring of Bain & Co. partner

Searchlight Capital Partners has made another senior addition to its portfolio support team, bringing aboard London-based Owen Cartier as managing director to head value creation efforts in Europe.

Cartier previously served as a partner at consulting firm Bain & Co, working for 14 years for clients in Amsterdam, Copenhagen, London and Madrid. His specialty, according to his team page bio, has been working on "strategy, end to end execution of radical transformation, mergers/carve-outs and due diligence."
