P4G Capital to expand deal, portfolio resource teams to help deploy fund

San Francisco-based lower-middle-market firm P4G Capital would like to bring aboard at least two associates or senior associates by year-end to help deploy a debut fund closed early last year, Private Equity Career News has learned. The roughly 16-person firm also has an eye on expanding its portfolio resources group.

Riverside tech team launches new firm; to maintain ties

The founding partner of the technology capital solutions platform at The Riverside  Company has joined with at least two colleagues to launch a venture capital and growth equity firm, Private Equity Career News has learned.

Led by Managing Partner Michael Chou (pictured), San Francisco-based Trimer Capital plans to make venture capital and growth equity investments in technology, software and tech-enabled companies, according to a Form ADV brochure filed in late March. (Update: Trimer Capital also filed its first Form D on August 1.)

Plum positions open at CalPERS PE portfolio; room to run

Update: Shortly after this story was posted, CalPERS launched a search for a private assets deputy chief investment officer.  

California Public Employees' Retirement System, the country's largest pension, with some $440 billion in assets, has opened up a search for an associate investment manager to work on its PE co-investment program. It also seeks a junior investment officer to work on its PE portfolio.

Ex-Carlyle execs raise debut pool targeting government-related deals

Three ex-executives of Carlyle Group, including Adam Palmer, the former head of the firm's global aerospace, defense and government services team, have secured the $62 million they sought for a debut fund.

The firm "seeks to identify, invest in, and strategically transform businesses operating at the nexus of government and commercial markets," according to Capitol Meridian Partners's Web site.

Duo with Milestone, Spouting Rock pedigree launches PE shop

It's said that a market downturn is a great time to launch a new firm, and if so then Sam Henderson and Michael Hullings have excellent timing.

Henderson, an ex-associate at buyout shop Milestone Partners, and Hullings, ex-chief legal officer at money manager and private equity firm Spouting Rock, have teamed up to form Wayne, Pennsylvania-based Hullson Partners. The firm plans to invest on a deal-by-deal basis in well-run founder and family-owned companies.

In an interview this week, Henderson told Private Equity Career News that after the firm gets its first two deals under its belt, it will start thinking about hiring its first junior professional—someone who can tackle all aspects of deal-making, from sourcing to financial modeling to industry research. He added that the firm has gotten "pretty far down the road" with a couple of transactions in its pipeline.

Brighton Park co-founder jumps to Thomas H. Lee Partners

Technology investor Zachary Güt has left the firm he co-founded three and a half years ago to join Boston buyout firm Thomas H. Lee Partners as a managing director, Private Equity Career News has learned.

From early 2019 to early this year Güt (pictured) served as co-founding partner and member of the investment committee at Greenwich, Connecticut-based software and growth equity investment firm Brighton Park Capital, according to his Linkedin profile.
