LA Fire and Police allocates another $200M to emerging managers

The board of the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pensions has approved allocating another $200 million to its 17-year-old PE emerging manager program. The allocation would be managed by money manager Portfolio Advisors, while the pension fund is in the process of hiring a private markets investment officer who might also get involved.

Start-up healthcare firm gains traction with public pensions

Start-up healthcare specialist 3 Boomerang Capital has raised at least up to $65 million from public pensions for its inaugural fund. That, in turn, has fueled a rapid ramp-up in staffing since its founding.

The Greenwich, Connecticut-based firm’s 3 Boomerang Capital I LP fund recently secured a $30 million commitment from the Illinois State Board of Investments, as reported by sister publication LP Allocator News in January. Other commitments include $25 million from the Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois, and up to $10 million from the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pensions.
