The Riverside Company seeks partner for SaaS investment team: Sponsored

Prolific lower-mid-market investor The Riverside Company seeks a partner to join its Riverside Acceleration Capital team, which provides growth capital to B2B software companies. Here’s more about the position:

The Strategy: The Riverside Acceleration Capital team makes two kinds of investments in B2B software companies. RAC Royalty provides expansion capital in the form of non-dilutive, royalty investments. It backs companies that typically generate at least $2 million in recurring revenue from a software-as-a-service, or SaaS, business model. RAC Equity makes minority, preferred equity investments in larger, fast-growing SaaS companies generating revenue of $5 million to $50 million.

Your Role: As a partner you’ll play a big part in setting strategy for the Riverside Acceleration Capital team, as well as in hiring and managing junior team members. You’ll take charge of all aspects of deal-making, from sourcing investments to structuring deals to working with management teams to achieve their business goals. You’ll help source and manage add-on investments. With equity investments you’ll typically take a seat on the board of directors.

Your Qualifications: You should ideally have a seven-year-plus track record of growth equity investing, numerous connections with software executives, and experience serving on the boards of software companies.

The Firm: Founded in 1988, The Riverside Company sponsors buy-and-builds in the lower middle market in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. The more than 200 employees pursue deals in business services, consumer brands, education, healthcare, software, and specialty manufacturing. Its nine fund families include ones earmarked for lower-mid-market buyouts, micro-cap deals and non-control investments.

The Culture: You’ll find a fast-paced environment at The Riverside Company. The firm prides itself on its “kinder, more compassionate” work ethos, discouraging big egos while encouraging a healthy work-life balance. Parents, for example, may be able to arrange their work schedules to spend more time with children. The firm’s diversity and inclusion committee, populated by members across the firm, focuses on recruitment, retention and development.

Location: Most of the 10-person Riverside Acceleration Capital team is based in New York City. This role can be based anywhere in the United States
