Tech investment shop seeks heads of origination, community

Devin Mathews

ParkerGale, a Chicago buyout shop that acquires technology companies, has openings for a head of origination, a head of community and an associate.

That’s according to Partner Devin Mathews, whose firm saw deal sourcing expert Kara (Davey) Master step down recently to become a vice president at Chicago-based Wind Point Partners.

ParkerGale closed its second fund at $375 million just over three years ago. Its team page lists 18 employees, including Partners Kristina Heinze, Mathews, Jim Milbery and Ryan Milligan.

Mathews emailed to Private Equity Career News the following job descriptions, verbatim, for the three open positions:

  • Head of Originationthis person has an encyclopedic knowledge of and an odd obsession with what software deals are getting done. They develop deep (not transactional) relationships. Great storyteller. They measure progress and hold themselves accountable. Might come from tech banking or a BD role at a PE fund and just knows the job can be done better at a more creative, forward-thinking firm.
  • Head of Communitythis person is a fearless connector, loves matching people and ideas. Thrives in ambiguity and is also systematic in how they track results. Might come from a marketing or development role or is currently doing this job at a VC fund and is frustrated with too broad a mandate or a lack of resources.
  • Associatethis person is a current banker or consultant looking to transition to private equity next summer. High intellectual curiosity and attention to detail. Wants to work on a small team and get close to the teams running growing software companies to see what makes them tick.
