Minority-led firm launched by former Trivest, TPG execs

Former Trivest Partners Vice President Herby Raymond has teamed up with former TPG Vice President Matthew Lee to start a new private equity firm based in Miami.

Northern Yard Partners takes its place among just a handful of private equity firms to be co-founded by an African American (Raymond) or an Asian American (Lee). The founding pair have set out to invest in U.S. companies in the business services, residential services, consumer, industrial and distribution sectors generating EBITDA of up to $7 million.

Trivest seeks $1B for “Recognition” fund; to hire regional BD director

With three fund families under management, Trivest Partners seeks $1 billion for a fund under a fourth banner that would mark its largest buyout pool ever. The Florida firm also is recruiting a new director of business development to cover the Mountain-states region.

Trivest Partners, which focuses on founder-led and family-owned businesses, has entered the market with its Trivest Recognition Fund LP and parallel funds, according to a regulatory filing from December. A recent review of the Trivest Partners team page showed six team members working on the new fund, including a recently hired associate.
