Cambridge Associates, an influential Boston-based money manager and consultant to institutional investors, has an opening for an associate investment director to join its diverse manager research team. The group helps clients that are looking for racial, ethnic and gender diversity within their portfolios.

In this role you’ll conduct due diligence on fund managers, analyzing organizational strength, strategy, performance, terms and current portfolio positions. You'll also conduct research projects. To qualify you'll need at least four years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree.

NYC opens search for senior investment officer-private equity

The New York City Office of the Comptroller has launched a search for a senior investment officer to work on an $18.5 billion portfolio of private equity investments.

In this role you would pitch in on the "construction, management and strategic planning" of that portfolio, according to the job description. You'll have a hand in sourcing, evaluating and monitoring investments. You'll work with colleagues to negotiate partnership terms and conditions with fund managers, as well as monitor those fund managers for compliance.

Douglas Haber steps down as managing director at Thomas H. Lee Partners

Douglas Haber has stepped down as managing director at Thomas H. Lee Partners, the Boston buyout shop that has raised more than $25 billion since its 1974 founding and backed more than 150 companies.

Since joining in 2006 Haber has served as a director of 8th Avenue Food and Provisions, 1-800 Contacts, Bargain Hunt, CTI Foods, Fogo de Chão, Give and Go Prepared Foods Corp. and Party City. Haber earlier served in the industrials and natural resources group at investment bank Goldman Sachs & Co, where he was an analyst  for two years, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Apollo hires ex-WeWork Exec as MD, Human Capital Transformation

Tom Osmond has taken on the role of managing director, human capital transformation at Apollo Global Management, the buyout and credit investment giant whose co-founder Leon Black stepped down as chairman and CEO under a cloud earlier this year.

Osmond is no stranger to controversy at the top of organizations. He most recently served as chief operating officer of the people team and head of total reward at WeWork, which he joined in April 2019. Co-founder Adam Neumann stepped down as CEO of the office-space provider a few months later while remaining non-executive chairman. The firm had recently postponed an intended IPO after reports of growing losses and shaky governance practices.

The San Francisco Employees' Retirement System, steward to a $27 billion-plus pension fund serving more than 70,000 active and retired city and county employees, has an opening for a senior portfolio manager for its private equity portfolio.

In this role you'll source and evaluate both funds and co-investments; write up recommendations; negotiate partnership terms and conditions; and monitor performance. You'll need at least six years of investment experience working for a money manager or institutional investor, or the equivalent.

Fast-growing Borgman Capital seeks BD pros to open offices

Borgman Capital, an independent sponsor with committed capital and a hankering for lower-mid-market acquisitions, plans to hire full-time deal originators located in secondary markets to drum up proprietary deal flow.

The roughly 10-person firm wants to hire "experienced deal origination professionals to launch new offices around the country," according to the recruitment ad. "Candidates must have a strong network and track record of successfully sourcing direct lower-middle-market deals." The successful candidate would join the firm at the director or managing director level.

Sun Capital taps Susan Clark as MD and head of technology value creation: Updated

Susan Clark has joined turnaround specialist Sun Capital Partners as managing director and head of technology value creation.

Clark (pictured) previously served as a general partner-portfolio operations for late-stage venture investor TCV. According to her team page bio, "Susan was responsible for standing up the firm’s advisory and operating organization to drive value across the portfolio."

Clark was unavailable to talk for this article, but in a Linkedin comment wrote that she was "incredibly excited to partner with Elizabeth de Saint-Aignan in growing our tech portfolio." de Saint-Aignan joined Sun Capital last November as managing director and head of a new technology investment program at the firm.

MiddleGround Capital, close to announcing another $1 billion raised, seeks a director/VP of investor relations 

MiddleGround Capital, one of the most successful fundraisers among emerging managers founded in the last few years, seeks a director/VP of investor relations.

The firm closed a debut fund earmarked for acquisitions of industrial, manufacturing and specialty distribution companies at $459.5 million about two years ago. It followed up by securing $736 million for a second pool of capital across three funds earlier this year, thanks in part to a nearly 100 percent re-up rate, said VP of Human Capital Kristen Baily.

The firm has yet to announce a final close of the pool, expected to be in the $1 billion range. Baily added that, along with capital-raising for funds, the firm has a constant need to bring in co-investors into its deals.
