Clearlake Capital co-founders create new fund family, filings suggest

Clearlake Capital Co-Founders and Managing Partners José E. Feliciano (pictured) and Behdad Eghbali have been so successful at investing and fundraising that even a hint of plans to launch a new fund family would have investors swooning.

A hint is what we have, in the form of two regulatory filings filed for private equity funds a few weeks apart this winter, one for Icon Partners II LP and one for Icon Partners III LP. In September the firm filed a Form D for a fund called Icon Software Partners LP.

Women-owned Riveter Capital poised to close first deal; expects to hire junior pro by year-end

Women-owned start-up sponsor Riveter Capital by the end of the month expects to close on the purchase of a company in the women's health sector.

It would mark the first acquisition for the firm, founded by Colleen Gurda (pictured at right) and Sarah Abdel-Razek, who are pursuing an unusual strategy of acquiring lower-mid-market companies owned or led by women or minorities.

Riveter Capital's hiring plans are so far modest. Expect the firm, with one intern working remotely, to bring on a couple of more interns in the near term. Aptitude for financial modeling is desired, along with a strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and passion for hammering out investment theses.

UTIMCO spin-out seeks two junior professionals to help build fund-of-funds business

Cypress Creek Partners, a start-up money manager manned by three ex-colleagues of UTIMCO, has opened searches for two junior professionals to help pursue its strategy of backing and anchoring new managers of private equity, natural resources and infrastructure assets.

One of the open positions is for an investment analyst to work on fund commitments, co-investments and direct investments from the firm's Austin, Texas office. Responsibilities include managing the flow of investment opportunities, conducting market research, developing financial models and monitoring performance.

Three ex-investment professionals of RLH Equity, formerly known as Riordan, Lewis & Haden, have set up a shop called Interlock Equity to back companies in the middle market.

The three co-founders and managing directors are Rob Zielinski, who left RLH Equity last spring after more than 16 years, most recently serving as general partner and managing director; Mike Orend, who left the the firm in January after nine years, most recently serving as managing director of business development; and Stefan Jensen, who left the firm in January after five and a half years, most recently serving as a principal.

Ex-Golden Gate foursome emerges on the fundraising trail

Last spring at least five investment professionals left San Francisco-based buyout shop Golden Gate Capital--a much-noted exodus covered in this exclusive story by Private Equity Career News. Only one of the five at the time had publicly revealed a next career move.

RCP Advisors seeks portfolio manager for first DEI fund

Chicago funds-of-funds manager RCP Advisors has launched a search for a portfolio manager to take the reins of a debut pool earmarked for "diverse" private equity and growth equity funds, which typically includes ones raised by women, minorities or veterans.

The portfolio manager will have a variety of responsibilities, including pitching in on fundraising, according to the recruitment ad. Additional duties include sourcing fund managers, developing relationships with them, conducting due diligence, and training and mentoring junior professionals.

Ex-Advent, Centerbridge, KKR execs build new firm

The outlook for start-up private equity shops remains bright, and Cross Rapids Capital LP is attempting to make its mark in middle-market private equity and special situations deals.

The New York City-based firm, with an appetite for industrial and services companies, has brought aboard Benjamin Gaw Jr as partner and head of portfolio operations. Gaw most recently served as senior director of portfolio operations at Boston-based buyout giant Advent International, according to his Linkedin profile; before that he served as senior vice president and head of Asia portfolio operations at Los Angeles-based Platinum Equity.
