Daraja Capital—a platform for seeding minority-owned alternatives fund managers—seeks an analyst to join the team at a pivotal stage in the firm’s evolution.

The Firm: Founded in 2016 by Raudline Etienne, a former chief investment officer of the New York State Common Retirement Fund, Daraja Capital backs minority entrepreneurs looking to raise their debut private equity, private credit, real assets, real estate and related alternative investment funds. The firm also invests equity in deals alongside independent sponsors and operators.
The Opportunity: As Daraja Capital’s first full-time employee, you’ll work closely with the founder and CEO on all aspects of fund management. You’ll have an opportunity to pitch in on the firm’s debut fundraise. And you may have a chance to travel some. According to the job description: “The ideal candidate is extremely organized, has the ability to process information quickly, learns new skills quickly, and is emotionally intelligent.”
Responsibilities: In this role you’ll source investment opportunities, maintain a database of diverse fund managers, conduct market research, create financial models, and produce investment memoranda. On the fundraising side, you’ll create investor presentations, prepare investor letters, and draft related marketing communications.
Your Qualifications: You should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and an “outstanding academic record from a highly respected institution.” The position requires a minimum of two years of investment banking or private equity experience. The successful candidate will also have “extensive financial modeling experience and skills.”
Location: You’ll be working remotely to start. Starting in 2023 you’ll work full-time in the firm’s New York City office.
