Corinthian Capital opens search for deal associate: Sponsored

Corinthian Capital, which prides itself on helping entrepreneurs take their companies to the next level of successseeks to hire an associate to join its New York City-based deal team. It’s an opportunity to join a well-oiled deal machine as the firm gears up to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

The Firm: Founded in 2005, lower-mid-market specialist Corinthian Capital takes controlling stakes in North American companies operating in light manufacturing, distribution and services, including healthcare services. In almost every one of its deals the firm has been the first institutional money in, while the founder has continued on in an executive role. Target companies typically generate sales of $50 million to $250 million. The firm has raised approximately $500 million in capital, managed through two funds and one special purpose vehicle.

The Role: The associate will assist in sourcing, evaluating and monitoring investments. Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Creating financial models and building detailed operating models showing the impact on the firm’s financial statements;
  • Reviewing new deal opportunities and identifying key industry growth drivers, opportunities and threats through primary and secondary research;
  • Conducting thorough business model analysis including operations, strategy, and finance;
  • Preparing investment memoranda and investor documents;
  • Preparing and reviewing confidentiality agreements and fee agreements;
  • Identifying additional investment opportunities, and communicating with strategic partners and service providers.

Qualities: Corinthian Capital is seeking a mature, ambitious individual that will work well with the investment team, intermediaries, investors, and portfolio company management. The associate is expected to be a self-starter, contribute across all aspects of the firm’s business, and have the ability to work independently and with other members of the deal team. As such, the individual should have strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record of success. The ideal candidates will have three to five years of work experience either in principal investing, investment banking, or credit investing; ideally involving transactions in the $25 million to $150 million enterprise value range.

Culture: You’ll find a “pretty flat” organizational structure at the firm, according to Steven Gindi, CFO. Anyone from analyst on up, he said, can command the ear of the managing partner. No matter what deals you’ve been assigned, you can offer your view at any time during regular Monday meetings to review new deals and to discuss portfolio company progress. “If you think there’s something that you can help with, we’re happy to hear it,” said Gindi. The partners cultivate a reasonably laid-back atmosphere, and host the occasional bowling party or wine-tasting event; employees are encouraged to pursue rich, fulfilling lives outside the office.

Location: Working from the firm’s New York City office at Madison Avenue and 45th Street, you’ll be close to Grand Central Station and a short walk from Times Square.

Compensation: $115K to $140K salary, as part of larger comp plan.
