Buy-side advisor launches in wake of Finquest collapse

Buy-side advisor Clavana has launched to help private equity firms, their portfolio companies, and corporations identify and consummate acquisitions, particularly of companies that aren't yet for sale.

Four of the first eight team members at Clavana recently worked at Singapore-based Finquest. The buy-side advisor last month informed employees it was shutting down its operations in all of its North American, European and Asian markets except for Luxembourg.

Ex-Goldman Sachs campus recruiter joins Carlyle Group

The Carlyle Group has hired the former global head of campus recruiting and diversity recruiting at Goldman Sachs to be a managing director of human capital management.

In his new position Omer Tanvir will focus on the operational and tech side of talent management, rather than recruiting. Still, his knowledge of campus recruiting methods could come in handy.

LA-based spinouts of Kayne Anderson, Odyssey raise debuts

Los Angeles is enjoying a more hopeful moment in private equity, nine months after being hit with multiple wildfires that took a toll on several local M&A professionals.

LA-based PE firms Composition Capital and Fusion Capital Partners, founded last year by former executives of Kayne Anderson and Odyssey Investment Partners, have brought debut funds to market. The two firms filed regulatory forms late last month, respectively, for Composition I LP fund and Fusion Capital Partners I LP fund. No amounts or targets were listed.

Ex-Tree Line direct lending executive plans new venture

Stephan Schneck, until this summer a managing director and founding team member at direct lender Tree Line Capital Partners, promises a "New Venture Coming Soon!" on his Linkedin profile.

"A special thanks to Tom Quimby and Jon Schroeder for taking a chance on me in 2014," wrote Schneck in a Linkedin post, referring to the two managing partners of the San Francisco firm. "From those early days with a small team in San Francisco to today's national platform, it's been an honor to be part of the journey."
