Wyoming SWF opens search for CIO to manage $31B
The Wyoming State Treasurer's Office has launched a search for a chief investment officer to manage a sovereign wealth fund valued at about $31 billion.
The CIO supervises a 10-person investment team. Together the team manages internally some $10 billion in equity and fixed income assets; the rest is managed by a collection of some 70 outside fund managers. The portfolio includes $1.9 billion in real estate assets, $1.6 billion in hedge funds, $1.5 billion in private equity assets, $620 million in private credit and $578 million in infrastructure assets.

Former executives of financial services firm Charles Schwab and money manager Partners Group have launched multi-family offices expected to offer clients access to private equity and other alternative investments. One of them and an affiliate have at least four job openings.
Chris Miller, previously a managing director who worked on M&A at Charles Schwab, has launched multi-family office EliteGate Wealth in Tampa, Florida. The firm has a Dallas-based private equity affiliate, Atlantic Gulfstream Partners, that acquires companies operating in home and commercial services.
Penn State seeks investment professional for $1.5B PE portfolio
Pennsylvania State University has opened a search for an investment professional to work on a roughly $1.5 billion private equity portfolio.
The State College, Pennsylvania-based office of investment management would like to hire either an investments associate or an associate director of investments, depending on the qualifications of the candidate. The job involves evaluating fund managers and monitoring their performance.

Carlyle taps new diversity head, modifies website language
With its portfolio of aerospace, defense and government portfolio companies and close ties to government, few PE firms have as much to lose as Washington-based Carlyle Group by antagonizing the anti-DEI administration of President Donald Trump.
Yet late last year Carlyle Group promoted then-DEI Vice President ‘Iolani Bullock to head of diversity and inclusion. Bullock joined in 2020 as an associate vice president of DEI, after working at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business as director of MBA admissions, diversity & inclusion and partnerships.

Emerging manager backer nears $400 million for fofs; has six openings
Outsourced CIO provider FEG Investment Advisors has raised at least $385 million for its seventh multi-strategy fund of funds, earmarked for primary and co-investments in private equity, private debt and real assets. The firm also is looking to hire six new people, including a portfolio management analyst.
The Cincinnati-based firm, with some $14.5 billion AUM and $82.2 billion AUA, has landed at least 78 investors for FEG Private Opportunities Fund VII LP, per new filings.
Maryland pension staff to meet with emerging managers on May 8
The Maryland State Retirement and Pension System is setting aside May 8 for emerging managers to pitch their funds as part of its inaugural “Terra Maria Investing Day.”
Participants, according to a Linkedin post by senior portfolio manager Stuart Kaye, will have an opportunity to meet with investment staff. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the meetings would be held online on or in person in Baltimore or both. We were unable to reach staff for additional details.
