Having reached $300 million on their second buyout fund, the partners of Sky Island Capital plan to bring aboard a just-hired fourth associate to help deploy it. They also plan to hire a team of executives with operational expertise to work with portfolio companies.
“It’s been a stressful six years,” said Partner Will Dobbs. It started with a global pandemic that hit while raising a debut fund, a challenging process under the best of circumstances. In the end, the roughly 12-person, Dallas-based firm decided to close its first fund above $100 million in 2020, but short of its target.
